how to get started!

To get the best possible experience with your craft project, we suggest some considerations that can be relevant for you to make before commencing your project.

Amongst others, this includes finding the ideal project for you, including which needles and yarns you prefer working with, and much more.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT KIT

Before commencing your project, you must consider which project is ideal for you to make sure that you get a positive experience and, of course, a beautiful final result.

TYPE
We offer many types of kits, so you can always find a kit that matches your preferences. Hence, the first is to decide on whether you wish to knit, crochet, or embroider.

LEVEL & PURPOSE
You have to consider your skill level – are you a beginner or more experienced? Be honest with yourself, so you won't give up on a project because it is too challenging, or opposite that get bored because it is not challenging enough for you. We recommend using your project's purpose as a starting point – do you wish to challenge yourself, or are you simply looking for an easy-going project

SIZE AND STYLE
Now you can decide whether you wish to knit a smaller or larger project – as well as with which type of yarn you enjoy working.

Furthermore, it is essential to choose a project you know you will love when it is finished – in terms of both fit, colors, and pattern. Hence, as crafting can be a long process, our experience is that we are more motivated to complete a project if we know that we will love the final result.

We have gathered some sources of inspiration for your next project beneath.

THE ESSENTIAL TOOLS

Choosing circular needles or crochet hooks

Good quality knitting needles are a must! Yet, whether you prefer knitting with needles in metal, birch wood, bamboo, or something else is a matter of personal preference.

We offer both wooden and metal circular needles and crochet hooks to accommodate your preferences in the best possible manner.

The vital reference book!

Any knitter should own this book about knit, which is written by Debbie Bliss. It includes all relevant knitting techniques, guides on how to finish your knit, and much more.

It is written in an understandable language and is logically structured. Furthermore, it is illustrated with many valuable details and tips. (Note: The book is only available in Danish)

Tape Measure DKK25.00

We think that a tape measure is a must-have project bag tool.

We use it all the time – for example, to estimate which size to make based on our chest measurement.

Or for measuring how far we’ve come with our work - or measuring our knit or crochet tension.

THE IMPORTANCE OF TENSION

GET THE RIGTH FIT

We always recommend that you make a gauge swatch before commencing your project to ensure that you end up with the right measurement for your project.

When you knit or crochet, your stitch size has a significant impact on your final result. If you knit/crochet with the wrong tension, you may end up with something too long or too short, too narrow, or too wide. Beneath, you can find the link to our guide on tension, where you can learn how you hit it spot on.
